Peace IV: Accessing It

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭‬‬

We have looked at the subject on peace this month. We have focused mainly on Godly Peace which comes from Jesus Christ. We have also laid out the difference between worldly and godly peace. Then last week, we focused on what Godly Peace can do.

It is kind of a tease to talk about peace and not talk about how to access this kind of peace. Personally, I love practical applications of what I have studied. I can’t stand too much theory, and I want to believe the same goes for you, fellow reader.

With that said, let us dive right into it. From the verses we read, you will see two factors that can lead to us experiencing Godly peace.

1. Prayer– what is that? It is a time set aside to talk to God like a father and friend. He truly exists and He truly does listen when one will practice this art.

“‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” Jeremiah‬ ‭33:3‬

This is a promise for all reading. God is all ears and willing to answer if only you will call on Him in prayer by faith. This story is about Jeremiah, a prophet, who was confined in the courtyard of the guard. That was a trying time for him. In the midst of that, he heard God talking to him and said what I just quoted. Pray for peace and believe God wants to give you peace. That act of faith drives away anxiety.

2. Thanksgiving- a grateful heart also releases the peace of God. You will develop an attitude of gratitude the more you will hit your knees in prayer. Apart from receiving peace through the medium of prayer, the other effect is you are filled with gladness and hope which makes you thankful. You suddenly develop a healthy appreciation of things around you. There are some practical steps like remembrance which helps us to be thankful, but there is the other side of forgetfulness which sets in every now and then. A master key to always remaining grateful is through prayer. The more you are thankful, you will experience the peace of God. Thanksgiving puts you in a posture of worship. Someone may ask, what is that? It is the act of thanking God and recognizing Him as your chief source of everything.

With these two keys being practiced, expect and believe to experience the peace of God which is beyond understanding, and can serve as a garrison to your heart and mind.

Why don’t you hold me up on this challenge and practice this for a week, and let me know the outcome. I talk from experience that this really works! I am not just quoting something I read.

Always enjoy reading your comments and feedbacks. Also want to say thank you for supporting the blog through your likes, shares and subscriptions.

Happy Memorial Day to all celebrating on this side of town. Enjoy the meats!

The rest, have a peaceful week.

Till I come your way again…

Peace & Love
